Why is it that people must be judged on their appearances? Recently me and a few of my friends have been hanging out at a public place near my house. A few of them have found it necessary to mark their territory with various statements written on things. I'll admit that I did write a few lines of poetry on a picnic table (which mind you already had tons of writing all over it at the time). But those few individuals took it to where they were writing on the playground equipment. I myself would never do that, because defacing an already ill-shaped picnic table is one thing, doing the same to $4000 playground equipment is quite another. But anyways, back to the topic at hand. Tonight we were quartered by the police and they informed us that if they noticed that anything was vandalized or broken they were going to come looking for us. This in itself pissed me off. Why would he automatically assume, because of an anonymous phone call, that it was us? is it so hard to believe that a few teenagers (more than half of them over the age of 18) would sit on some picnic tables on a nice night? Or was it because we were wearing black and big pants? Was it simply because we had "unconventional" colored hair? Or did we just exude the vibrations of Juvenile delinquent? Somehow, considering that we were doing nothing more harmless then talking, I'm guessing that these "anonymous" tippers assumed because of the way we were dressed etc. that we were the individuals who perpetrated the crime. However, the people who did tag the playground, weren't even present and unknowingly the cops were picking on completely innocent people. Just talking about the entire incident pisses me off all over again. |
